Our Unique Ceremony Locations
Launched in fall 2008, At the Schoolhouse, is your premiere Ottawa wedding venue with many exclusive wedding ceremony locations to choose from. A former one-room schoolhouse building, the turn-of-the century Munster United Church directly across the street, our outdoor garden courtyards and marquee wedding tent.
Nestled among nature and gorgeous stone buildings, At the Schoolhouse is the perfect backdrop for your wedding. The Schoolhouse is located approximately 15 minutes from Kanata, Barrhaven, Carleton Place, Ashton, Richmond, Stittsville and an easy 30 minutes from downtown Ottawa. The breathtaking photo opportunities are naturally free of charge; as with our on-site parking.
1890s Schoolhouse Building
The Schoolhouse ceremony location seats up to 60 for a private ceremony and can accommodate up to 65 for cocktail style reception.
Over 125 years old, the former one room schoolhouse has been completely renovated into a chic, contemporary space with air-conditioning. The beautiful open space has a two-storey ceiling with 8 foot high windows, allowing plenty of natural light. The venue features natural oak hardwood and marble floors throughout. The second floor mezzanine has a private suite to get ready and relax prior to the ceremony. The Schoolhouse comes professionally decorated and we always incorporate your personal, and finishing touches.
Munster United Church
With its beginnings in 1894, the 125 seat church is surround by beautiful stained glass windows and features hand-crafted curved pews and wood finishings throughout. The charming church is carpeted and is wheelchair accessible. Pictures and video recording is allowed in the church during the ceremony. The church boasts a richness of character with its gorgeous stone-work and 19th century craftsmanship.
Couples are welcome to declare their nuptials by ringing the church bells. The church is a beautiful ceremony location and can also serve as backup for inclement weather.
Outdoor Garden Courtyards
With seating for up to 65, your beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony location is in our garden courtyards. With over 2500 square feet of interlocked space, you'll never have to contend with inclement grounds. The aisle is flanked with roses and foliage that reaches a pergola, all under a canopy of leaves.
Relax, eat, drink and mingle in the comfort of our couches under the covered verandah or neighbouring interlocked patio. There's plenty of space for outdoor dancing as the music chimes through our exterior speaker system.
Our perfectly manicured, and professionally landscaped, gardens offer an unmatched natural setting and breathtaking photo opportunities.
Wedding Tent
Despite inclement outdoor conditions, we still offer an angelic setting in our spacious wedding tent. With seating for up to 65, our marquee style tent is fully equipped with surround sound capabilities, perimeter and celing lights and removable side panels. The tent is perfect for ceremonies, receptions and the first dance. There is no additional charge for use of the tent.
Gardens
A different twist on an outdoor ceremony. Guests can enjoy the lush grass in this unique semi-circle set up with a spectacular view of the mature perennial gardnes. This is only recommended for groups of up to 35 guests.
